Mr. Kolikoff’s diverse and extensive background combines his talents and interests in business, product and business development, government, academia, not-for-profit and the environment. His knowledge in these arenas is creatively applied in his business ventures and volunteer activities. Andrew began his career as an environmental scientist working for Nelson & Pope, an engineering consulting firm in NY in 1988. He was quickly immersed in the real estate world as the studies and analyses he prepared were predominantly in response to development/improvement related initiatives – feasibility analyses, yield/massing studies, environmental impact statement and assessment preparation, air quality and traffic modeling, remediation (groundwater and soils) studies, brownfield site remediation, entitlements, permitting, due diligence, zoning analyses, and regular attendance in public meetings and hearings - www.nelsonpope.com. With two graduate degrees in-hand and a few years of analysis and report writing work under his belt, Mr. Kolikoff moved on to work for the Town of Smithtown - a local government on Long Island in NY www.smithtowninfo.com. Second in command of the environmental department there - initially reviewing some of the work he used to create in private industry including as well all site plan and subdivision submissions - Andrew quickly displayed his business acumen and entrepreneurial qualities by finding many opportunities to improve upon the Town’s existing management practices and programs. Andrew created and managed all of the Town’s health and safety programs and brought all departments including Parks, Highways and Waste Management into complete compliance eliminating all annual state and federal fines received in the years preceding his employment. Additionally, Andrew created, implemented and managed two waste management initiatives, one a campaign that completely overhauled the way the Town picked up its commercial solid waste. By switching from a set fee to a pay as you throw system, Mr. Kolikoff saved the Town hundreds of thousands annually by reducing the amount of solid waste generated at the source and in-turn saved area businesses hundreds of thousands. For this and other efforts Andrew was awarded the “Man of the Year” distinction in his community in 1995. Concurrently with Mr. Kolikoff’s employment at the Town, Andrew also served as a professional educator teaching the technical aspects of his profession at Dowling College in NY (an adjunct professor for almost 7 years). During his time at Dowling, Mr. Kolikoff was the principle designer of the college’s proposed undergraduate degree track program for environmental science and environmental management www.dowling.edu. Additionally and simultaneously (in 1992), Andrew also co-founded a not-for-profit organization named the Association for Resource Conservation, Inc., (ARC). As president of the organization for 13 years Mr. Kolikoff found a way to save NY businesses millions of dollars by recycling or finding secondary uses for their unwanted, formerly discarded materials. These materials from area manufacturers and businesses (e.g., plastics, metals, fabrics, textiles, paper, wood products, and more) were collected and ultimately reused by children for creative purposes in hundreds of NY public schools. With significantly reduced carting costs area businesses could run more efficiently and therefore increase profits, add jobs and however measurably, stimulate the local economy. This entire effort was launched through the assistance of grants Andrew and his co-founder obtained from both the Rauch Foundation ($1 million dollars) and the New York State Department of Economic Development ($2 million dollars). Mr. Kolikoff essentially pitched his idea in the form of grant requests to make his vision a reality. Resigning from his post after 13 years of unwavering commitment, Andrew left ARC a thriving organization and business with an entire staff of directors, managers, and warehouse employees that no longer needs the assistance of foundations and government for support and as well – a completely self sustaining business – www.materialsresourcecenter.org. After nine and one half years in government, Andrew moved on to fill leadership role with Sear Brown, a national architecture/engineering firm – www.stantec.com. There, Andrew served as Senior Science Officer. Working out of the firm’s satellite Garden City location, Mr. Kolikoff significantly contributed in growing the local office staff from 23 to 108 in 4 year’s time, originating over $25 million in fees and in 2000 became the firm’s Director of Marketing and Business Development – a new role Andrew flourished in. After serving fifteen years as an environmental scientist, educator and not-for-profit creator, Mr. Kolikoff went on to establish a business of his own in 2003 – Kolikoff & Company, Inc www.kolikoff.com. Its mission, to provide professional service companies like architecture and engineering firms, contractors, real estate developers etc. outsourced marketing, business development and project management services. Parlaying the relationships that Andrew created through his years in the consulting, not-for-profit, academic, and government circles, Kolikoff & Company quickly established itself as one of New York’s premiere real estate consulting firms. However, with management and staff in place and growing almost monthly, Mr. Kolikoff eventually realized how consuming the daily challenges of managing and growing a service related business ultimately became. So once again, simultaneously, Andrew tried his hand in another business venture – in product development. Andrew developed a completely original idea into a reality and an eventual cultural phenomenon. A true American success story… Predicated on his experience in real estate and his life long love of sports, Mr. Kolikoff developed a concept for a product that now exists in tens of thousands of homes across America. The Dreamseat – a thematic luxurious leather recliner designed in anyone’s favorite professional team colors and logo – was created for both the American consumer as well as for individual sports franchises that wish to place these seats in desirable locations both on the field (as seen in the NFL and Major League Baseball) and in stadiums across America. Andrew single handedly performed all the market research, created and wrote all marketing and business plans, signed on the 3rd largest OEM recliner manufacturer in the United States and later managed all product development and quality control. The Dreamseat is presently licensed by Major League Baseball, the NFL, NBA and NHL – www.dreamseat.com. Andrew’s story would not be complete however without the mention of his deep passion for politics and has on numerous occasions chaired many political campaigns in his home state of New York. Known as an influential political fundraiser, Andrew has forged many close relationships and friendships and contributed greatly toward the furtherance of issues and ideals he finds so very important in living in the United States today. Andrew lives in Phoenix with his son Jonah and their pets Abbey and Bandit.
